A Long, Hard Road:

My name is Petro Lufta. I had been studying at the Fine Arts High School in Tirana. I had emigrated in Italy by the beginning of the 1991. There I got the chance to visit many Italian churches, basilicas and I met an orthodox priest who helped me a lot. He introduced the iconography this wonderful art which was unknown to me. Later he suggested me to go to a friend of him in Greece for learning more about the iconography.

I lived and worked in Athens where I had been taught by a Greek master for three years.
It was a great experience for me. I got back in Albania in the 1997 where I introduced my
works at the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.

After sometimes Archbishop Anastasios committed his goal for opening the first iconography school in Albania . I followed this school from 2000 to 2003. I worked and got a great support from Fr. Theologos, (a monk from Athos Mountain ), and Fr Luke Veronis, (my spiritual father).

In the Athos Mountain I studied all the painting iconography techniques. Such as Russian technique, post Byzantine Albania painting, and Onufri, its master.

Now I am working for the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.

I worked on the icons for the church of St. Vlash in Durrës, for the icons of the
St. Nikollas church in Kavaja. Lately I am working in the St. Paul , Asti & Qesari Cathedral in Durrës.
